About Polson Montana

Polson, Montana is a quintessential lake town with an easygoing personality located on the shores of Flathead Lake, the largest freshwater lake in the western United States. From sunup to sundown people can’t help but be drawn to the water. Whether by speedboat and water skis, gliding along in a sailboat, or sunbathing on the shore, the lake is at the center of life in Polson.

Of course there is more to discover in Polson. Stroll around downtown’s galleries, shops and restaurants located within a great mix of historic and contemporary buildings. In Polson, you will also find outfitters for guided activities including fishing, horseback riding, and river rafting. Catch a show by the Port Polson Players, the local theater group in their third decade of performing. Play a round of golf on Polson’s 27-hole golf course, or take a drive to the Kerr Dam with its 1,000-foot boardwalk that takes you right above the falls and gives you an incredible view of the canyon below. Pack a picnic and enjoy the incredible waterfalls in spring and summer.

As Stonehorse’s hometown, Polson is your place to grocery shop, grab lunch at a local diner and of course take part in citywide festivities like the Flathead Cherry Festival, the classic car show and the huge Fourth of July fireworks display over the lake. In addition, the Mission Mountain PRCA Rodeo is held annually every July at the Polson Rodeo Arena and attracts rodeo fans from all over the west. For your convenience and peace of mind, Polson has its own local airport and full-service hospital. Find out more about Polson by clicking here.

Whitefish’s upscale galleries and restaurants and Kalispell’s historic town center are both north of Stonehorse, leading you into the gates of Glacier National Park.
